Apr. 24, 2009 Kei named Japanese cover athletes for EA SPORTS Grand Slam Tennis Roger Federer and Serena Williams Among Stars Featured on Global and Regional Packaging
April 24th, 2009 – Electronic Arts Japan has announced today that tennis stars John McEnroe, Serena Williams and Roger Federer will be the cover athletes for its new tennis franchise, EA SPORTS™ Grand Slam® Tennis. McEnroe, one of the sport’s most recognizable figures, was recently announced as exclusive to the game. Williams and Federer are among the biggest names in tennis and the most accomplished; having won 23 Grand Slam singles titles between them. Williams becomes the first woman to ever grace the global cover of an EA SPORTS simulation product. Also, Kei Nishikori will be featured in the Japanese local pack cover with tennis legend, John McEnroe, and number one ranked Rafael Nadal.

“I am really excited to featured in EA SPORTS GLANDSLAM TENNIS”, commented Nishikori. “I enjoy representing Japan on the court and the fact that I am now included along with both current & past players in the game is really great. The Grand Slams are tournaments that every Tennis professional wants to win and now through the game everyone will be able to put themselves on the court and experience the excitement & joy of playing as a pro.”

Joining the trio of tennis greats is a host of international stars who will be featured on packaging across the world. The group includes current world number one Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Serena Williams.

EA SPORTS Grand Slam Tennis is being developed under the EA SPORTS brand by EA Canada in Vancouver, B.C. Designed first for the Wii™, it will ship in Japan in Summer 2009.
